We decided to pick up a new camera for our upcoming trip. We did it for a couple of reasons. Our old camera seems to be behaving a bit slowly lately. It takes forever to focus, and forever to write to the card, and forever to recover and be ready for the next picture. It's probably been that way forever, but it's about three years old now, and technology has improved significantly, so it's time for an upgrade. Jeff's also been feeling the need to play with lenses and settings lately. We decided not to spring for a digital SLR yet, but we did get a pretty nice new digital with great zoom features and much more speediness than our old camera. Bonus feature - the video taking qualities are markedly improved over our old camera. So, here's a nice new video of me playing "I'm gonna get you" with Fang. We play this every night when we get home from work. He picks up his favorite toy, which we have named "Orange Alien", because we really have no idea what it's supposed to be. Then he takes off running around the house while we chase him. Eventually he lets us catch him by flopping over on his back, at which time he gets a belly rub, and then we take Orange Alien away from him, toss it off in the distance and the cycle begins again. After a while he gets tired (and so do we) and it just turns into lots of belly rubbing and cuddling and no chasing. It's usually much more high paced than this video - it didn't seem like such a good idea to go running around the house while trying to tape. My apologies for the lens cap that occasionally swings in front of the picture. I need to figure out a better way to control that. I also had to knock down the video quality to about 10% so it was a reasonable size for uploading, so it doesn't look very good anymore. Oh well, it's still cute.

oh my gosh! that dog is so cute! does errol have his own version of the game or is he not as playful?
i just love your house! it just looks so fun.
Errol's not really a playful dog. He is the alpha dog. He does usually get in a squabble with Fang about once or twice a day, and he does his "happy dance" when we get home from work (I might try and film that sometime). But he won't play with toys with us, and he won't chase around the house like Fang does, so he's not really active. He owns the red chair in the living room, and sits there observing the rest of us much of the day, when he's not being a lap dog. If you hadn't already guessed, Errol's fatter than Fang. :) It's funny that they have such different personalities and such different looks because they're twins.
